Medina de Rioseco is placed in the area of Tierra de Campos, a big, plain area which enter the provinces of Leon, Zamora, Valladolid and Palencia. Medina is 735 meter high.

Geographically, is 45 km (30 miles) far from the capital of the province of Valladolid, 98 km (60 miles) far from Leon and about 160 miles far from Madrid. N-601 road from Leon to Valladolid crosses Medina, and A-6 highway passes very close also.
